Mountain Bike for Women
The inaugural 2017 Moutain Bike for Women was a huge success! Over 80 women signed up to tackle the Singletrack Advocate trails at Kincaid park. Special thanks to the volunteers who made the event possible.
Participants donated over $200 dollars to the Singletrack Advocates, and the Trek store chipped in another $1000. Together we raised over $1,200 for STA!
Results – Racing in Alaska is never boring, and today’s event was no exception. A cow moose and a young calf blocked the trail for a little while. The furry interlude mixed up the anticipated results a bit. That’s racing in the Last Frontier!
Awards – We have wonderful awards for the top ten finishers of the timed event. If you placed in the top ten, please stop by the Trek store to pick up your hand-made finisher award. They are awesome!

Get ready for the 2017 Mountain Bike for Women! This inaugural event for women will take place on Saturday, June 17th at Kincaid Park. Come explore the incredible single track trails in our back yard. There will be three, fun events to choose from:
The Guided Missile Time Trial Race: Race against the clock around the well-marked, single track course. This is a time trial event, meaning riders will depart from the start line in 30 second intervals. Cover the course as quickly as you can, and when it’s all over, see how your time compares. The top seeded women will leave first in order of bib number. Prizes will be awarded for the top 10 finishers.
This event will start at 9:00am. Individual racers will leave the start line in 30-second intervals.
The Smooth Cruise Fun Ride: This event will start right after the time trial. Ride solo or together with friends at your own pace. The approximately 8 – 10 mile course will be clearly marked and will feature an aid station near the halfway mark. Get dressed up for the costume contest for a chance to win fabulous prizes! This event is untimed, and all participants of this event will start together.
This event will start five minutes after the last time trial racer. The exact start time will depend on how many people sign up for the time trial race.
The Beginners Paradise Guided Ride: New to mountain biking but want to learn more? If you don’t feel comfortable tackling trickier trails, don’t worry! Sign up for this guided ride. Featuring small groups of six to eight participants, each group will be paired with a female guide who knows the trails and can give you tips and tricks. Learn how to pick your line through rocks and roots, and other technical skills. The goal is to learn and gain confidence but still stay within your ability.
This event will start five minutes after the untimed fun ride.
Entry: The cost to enter is $35. Online entry is available here. Online entry will close on Wednesday, June 14 at midnight to prepare for bib pickup. The last opportunity to sign up will be in person at bib pickup on Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16. Bib pickup is open from 10am to 7pm both days. Come by anytime!
Roster: A roster of people who have signed up for the 2017 event is available here.
Bib Pickup: Bib pick up is a breeze! Simply stop by the Trek Bicycle Store anytime during business hours (10am – 7pm) on Thursday, June 15, or Friday, June 16. To facilitate event setup, there will be no bib pickup available on the day of the event.
The Course: All events will start and finish in the Stadium area at Kincaid Park. The distance has not been determined but total distance will be approximately 8 to 10-miles. The course will highlight and feature our incredible network of single track trails. A course map is available here!
Support: Certified Trek mechanics will be on hand to assist with any of your technical questions. They will be under the Trek tent near the start/finish line.
Single Track Advocates: The Mountain Bike for Women is a benefit event for the Single Track Advocates organization. All net proceeds will be donated to STA. A non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, STA is dedicated to preserving, maintaining, and creating dedicated mountain bike trails in Anchorage. The trails we will use for the Mountain Bike for Women are the direct result of their efforts. More information about STA can be found here.
